Processor
All LRHosting servers use Genuine Intel Processors, either Pentium 4, or Pentium 4 Xeons. Xeons provide the fastest possible processing power for your web applications.
Memory
Database applications and very busy websites use large amounts of RAM. RAM is the most important component in any web server, and its best to have the maximum amount possible installed. Most web servers work by caching data onto the ram to deliver it to the client as quickly as possible.
Hard Disk
Either SATA or SCSI hard drives are used in LRHosting servers. SATA are the new the standard replacing IDE drives. They are
both faster and more reliable. 15,000RPM SCSI drives provide the fastest possible response time and should be used in mission
critical servers such as database servers.
Raid
Redundant Array of Independent Disks, RAID is used on all LRHosting servers, providing fault tolerance against hard disk
failure. The expected life time of a hard disk in a busy web hosting server is around 2 years. When one of these disks fail,
it can be quickly replaced without any data loss. For maximum reliability choose RAID 5 with a hot spare.
Operating System
The operating system of choice will be installed on the server by LRHosting. The licence is included in the price. 1 years Redhat Network subscrition is also included.
DNS
LRHosting can still manage your websites DNS on our redundant name servers if choosing a dedicated server.
Email
If you just wish to use your server for your web application, use LRHosting's advanced mail servers to manage your email.
BandWidth
Your server will be connected to LRHosting's multi homed, fully redundant network. You will have a dedicated 100Mb/sec pipe to
you server, enabling you to pull 100meg at any time. The server comes pre-billed with a 128kb/sec feed, billed using the 95%
method. Any additional bandwidth will be billed at our set rate.
Hardware Maintenance
All LRHosting servers, managed or unmanaged come with full hardware maintenance. If there is a hardware problem with the
server we will fix it at no cost.
IP Monitoring
Your server will be added to our IP Monitor "watch list". The service checks connectivity and running services on your
server. If one was to fail, our engineers would be alerted to the problem within 5 minutes. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Hardware Reboot
Unmanaged servers will have the ability to "hard reboot" their server remotely. All servers are connected to an external switch, which allows remote access to effectively "pull the plug" on a server and switch the power back on. This is for use incase of an operating system crash or other issue rendering the server offline. Managed customers can request a reboot though our support engineers.
Control Panel
All our accounts come with our custom built control panel, giving you full control over your account settings.
Anti Virus
LRHosting run the latest Anti-Virus software on our mailservers to remove viruses and other email threats from your mail
before they reach your inbox. This is an invaluable service with the threats around on the internet today.
Spam Filtering
All LRHosting email accounts include advanced Anti-Spam filtering to filter Junk email into a Bulk Mail folder. This folder is automatically emptied after messages are 10 days old. Saving you time and money.
Backup
LRHosting offer a range of tailor made backup solutions for our dedicated server customers. By default, if you run a web or
database server we will backup your files. Bespoke solutions can be arranged by talking to our Technical Support team.
Firewall
Managed servers are placed behind our firewall protecting them from hackers on the web. Ports and access can be allowed on
request. Unmanaged servers can provide a set of firewall rules for us to implement for them.
Access DataBases
LRHosting's servers support Microsoft Access databases, enabling you to provide rich, database driven websites to your clients easily.
MySQL Databases
MySQL is the internets de-facto database server, providing fast and reliable databases. LRHosting also run PHPMyAdmin to
enable clients to easily administer their database.
Microsoft ASP.net
ASP, ASP.NET are enabled on our windows servers.
PHP/Perl
PHP and Perl are scripting langauges enabled on our linux servers. They can be used to generate rich dynamic content when combined with databases. PHP runs in SAFE MODE on our servers, however PHP upload is enabled.

Hardware Setup
A set fee will be charged for the setup of any hardware.
